JOB DESCRIPTION:
KEY OBJECTIVES
- Team Lead, Geology leads multi-disciplinary teams in regional petroleum exploration study, evaluation and analysis on field potentiality & reserves to support management decision making for new opportunities.
- The job holder assists department manager in planning and monitoring departmental work program & budget and ensuring appropriate working procedures/methodology for efficient & capable exploration.
- The job holder leads and supervises team in evaluating and monitoring exploration activities of the project.
- Contacts with internal and external expertise, including partners and agencies, for presentation and discussion on work related issues.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead in evaluating hydrocarbon potential of new exploration areas and provide technical recommendation on prospect evaluation, potential reserve assessment, as well as associated risks/ uncertainties.
- Lead team in conducting regional study/ basin modeling of areas in focused regions with objectives to find alternatives or potential areas for concession/ PSC acquisition and for the establishment of potential area database/ inventory.
- Perform prospect identification, evaluation and ranking.
- Lead team in evaluating and monitoring exploration activities of the project to protect and optimize Company’s interests.
- Supervise geological well data acquisition during drilling operations.
- Generate new exploration concepts, formulate exploration program and identify target markets or assets for exploration and development strategy.
- Provide technical expertise/ counseling to management and colleagues.
- Assist manager in planning and monitoring departmental work plans/ budget as well as maintain appropriate working procedures and methodology for efficiency and capability development. Also ensure the high capability and update of technology on exploration geology.
- Coach, motivate, and develop junior staff in order to improve their skills to fulfill their job requirements.
- Conduct technical training to explain geological concept and share technical knowledge to the team.
- Ensure quality of team discussion and decisions.
- Promote the implementation of Company’s SSHE policy and regulations in all works under responsibility.
KEY AUTHORITIES
- As provided/assigned by Head of Sabah and Peninsular Project and Head of Malaysia Exploration Project.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics or related field.
- Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics is an advantage but not necessary.
- Professional certificate by accredited Bodies/ Associations is an advantage but not necessary.

- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills and integrity.
- Proficient in G&G software/ systems.
- Stakeholder Management skills – Proven ability to build strong working relationship with internal and external parties.

Work Experiences
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience in geology, exploration.
- Experience in Oil and Gas Industry is an advantage/key.
