TEAM LEADER GEOPHYSICS

CONTRACT: 2 YEARS (possibility of renewal)

LOCATION: KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

JOB DESCRIPTION:

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • Team Leader Geophysics leads the team to identify new exploration prospects by utilizing both geological and geophysical approaches, as well as prospect ranking to support management decision making on exploration campaign.
  • Assists department manager in planning and monitoring departmental work program & budget and ensuring appropriate working procedures/methodology for efficient & capable exploration.
  • Provides supervising, coaching and mentoring to Geophysicists to ensure knowledge/technology transfer as well as motivate the team to work closely with geologist to evaluate and monitor exploration activities of the project.
  • Contacts with internal and external expertise, including partners and agencies, for presentation and discussion on work related issues.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the team to perform seismic interpretation over the acquired seismic cubes for any additional seismic markers for both structural and stratigraphic.
  • Lead the team to define all potential prospects from exploration campaign and carry out the prospect evaluation and ranking by both geological and geophysical evaluation
  • Plan and propose exploration wells on the best locations.
  • Lead team in evaluating and monitoring exploration activities of the project.
  • Supervise geophysical data acquisition during drilling operations.
  • Assist the management in seismic acquisition and processing planning including all geophysical study e.g. QI study.
  • Assist manager in planning and monitoring departmental work plans/ budget as well as maintain appropriate working procedures and methodology for efficiency and capability development. Also ensure the high capability and update of technology on exploration geophysics.
  • Coach, motivate, and develop junior staff in order to improve their geophysical skills to fulfill their job requirements. Conduct technical training to enhance basic and advance geophysical knowledge to the team.
  • Ensure quality of team discussion and decisions.
  • Promote the implementation of Company’s SSHE policy and regulations in all works under responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics or related field.
  • Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics is an advantage but not necessary.
  • Professional certificate by accredited Bodies/ Associations is an advantage but not necessary.

Desired Competency (Skills and Abilities)

  • Structural reliability of seismic interpretation and maps.
  • Contribute to identification of any potential prospects and commercial over the responsible block.
  • Ensure an efficient technology transfer towards the team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skills and integrity.
  • stakeholder Management skills – Proven ability to build strong working relationship. with internal and external parties.

Work Experiences

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience in geology, exploration.
  • Experience in Oil and Gas Industry is an advantage.
